How do I look? Afrika Bambaataa, Musician, age 51
<p><strong>I'm as old as the moon and the stars, and as young as the trees and the lakes.</strong> My style comes from looking at what came before me, and from visiting a lot of places. I'm fanatical about movies: African, European, Viking, Roman. I got into witchcraft and magic from watching Bewitched and The Wizard of Oz, which shows in some of my outfits. <p>In the early spring of this year, The New York Times's influential style biannual, T magazine, ran a feature extolling the Belgian designer Martin Margiela. "Even after 20 years in the business, Martin Margiela is still the most elusive figure in fashion," it read, "which might explain why designers feel so free to thumb through his archives for inspiration." <p><strong>I'm half black, half Philippino. I was born looking pretty unique.</strong> No one can ever tell what nationality I am. I play off that. I wear whatever makes me look thinner. <p>There's nothing more disheartening than hearing someone complain that there aren't enough designs in the shops for "older people". The same whine was heard at Marks &amp; Spencer's AGM, when some old bat, trying to account for the slump in shares, declared that "The clothes are not suitable for our age group. The dresses are too low on top and they don't have sleeves. They just show too much cleavage and at our age we can't wear that sort of style." Levi's profit plunges 98 per cent as young shun its jeans
<p>Levi Strauss's second-quarter net income plunged 98 per cent because of weak sales of Dockers and Levi's.
